2008 Conservation Security Program - Boardman-Charlevoix Watershed

The Boardman-Charlevoix River Watershed has been selected for the 2008 Conservation Security Program (CSP). The watershed boundaries include 1,065,163 acres in the northwest Lower Peninsula of Michigan. The watershed is located in Antrim, Charlevoix, Cheboygan, Emmet, Grand Traverse, Kalkaska, Leelanau and Otsego counties.

In the cropland areas of the Watershed there are about 1,143 farms covering about 164,847 acres. The average size farm is 140 acres. Primary crops include forage, tart cherries, corn, Christmas trees and sweet cherries.

Informational Workshops

Local NRCS field staff will be conducting informational meetings for producers in the Boardman River/Charlevoix River Watershed who are interested in taking part in the CSP sign-up. It is requested that participants call to RSVP at 231-533-8542 ext 3 or by e-mail.
