The Michigan State Outreach Council
The Michigan State Outreach Council (the Council) was formed in 1998 to
gather information about the program and outreach needs of different customer
groups, especially under-served groups including women, minorities, and limited
resource clients. The Council works to provide coordinated outreach efforts to
all USDA customers in Michigan, especially those that have historically been
under served within the State. The Council is required to have at least four
public meetings each year.
The Michigan State Outreach Council is comprised of individuals from churches,
private organizations, universities, congressional and legislative staffs, as
well as representatives from USDA agencies, state government, tribal
governments, and local governments.
Vision Statement:
All customers (especially those that have historically been under served
within the State) are served in a manner that facilitates their understanding
of USDA programs and enables them to benefit, as appropriate, from such
programs.
Mission Statement:
To develop and coordinate the outreach efforts to historically under served
customers of USDA programs within Michigan.
